USS Arizona Memorial Gardens at Salt River:
Honoring Pearl Harbor and Our Veterans

A Tribute to the USS Arizona and Its Crew

The USS Arizona Memorial Gardens at Salt River serves as a tribute to veterans and a commemoration of the World War II Pearl Harbor attacks. The design features hardscape elements that outline the full 608-foot length of the USS Arizona. The memorial includes 1,177 illuminated columns, each symbolizing a fallen service member, along with 334 smaller columns representing the survivors. The ship’s outline extends into a 5-acre lake, mirroring the sunken condition of the original battleship. Native American motifs, including interlocking scroll designs, are thoughtfully integrated into the landscape.

At the heart of the memorial is the Boathouse, a structure with glass walls on its northern and southern sides. This building houses an artifact salvaged from the original ship, offering a poignant connection to history.

Throughout the memorial, sandblasted quotes and interpretive signage provide historical context, imagery, and details on the significance of Pearl Harbor. Additionally, Pylon Mast Structures display the names and ranks of each sailor who served aboard the USS Arizona, with each name etched onto individual stainless steel nameplates.
